What is a cartel de toreros banderilleros? 

When referring to poster of toreros banderilleros (a lineup of banderilla-specialist matadors), it does not mean these matadors were formerly banderilleros (subordinate bullfighters responsible for placing banderillas before the final act). Instead, it highlights their distinctive style as matadors who personally perform this part of the fight rather than relying on their assistants.

El Fandi is the most famous in this aspect, captivating crowds with his dynamic and acrobatic approach, often sprinting towards the bull before placing the banderillas with spectacular precision, including his trademark al violín move. Antonio Ferrera, although evolving into a more artistic and refined style in recent years, still retains his mastery of the banderillas as an essential part of his bullfighting identity. Meanwhile, Manuel Escribano brings courage and flair, often challenging the bull from a long distance before executing perfectly placed banderillas.

This March 23 event will not only showcase the excitement of the Santa Coloma breed but also an electrifying display of skill in the tercio de banderillas, as three matadors renowned for this art form take center stage.
