It's one of the most important bullrings, housing up to 16300 spectators, has a heating system and a mobile deck. The bullring of Nimes is a Roman amphitheater and the ring has an elliptical shape, which makes it a unique bullring.

It was built as a Roman amphitheater in 27 BC and was renovated in 1809 and has been used as a bullfighting arena since May 1863. Until today the bullring in Nimes has become one of the most important bullrings, there are celebrated very prestigious bullfighting festivals, among them the great fair of Pentecostés.
