What is a mixed bullfight?
A mixed bullfight is a bullfighting spectacle that combines two forms of combat: bullfighting on horseback and bullfighting on foot. In this type of event, the lineup includes a rejoneador, who fights the bulls while mounted on horseback, and one or two matadors, who face the bulls on foot.
This format allows spectators to enjoy the spectacle of rejoneo, where the equestrian skill and coordination between rider and horse create a breathtaking display. At the same time, bullfighting on foot brings purity, technique, and emotion, as the matador faces the bull using the cape and muleta, demonstrating his artistry and courage.
Mixed bullfights often generate great excitement, as they offer two styles of bullfighting in a single evening, attracting both fans of rejoneo and those who prefer traditional bullfighting. Additionally, they allow bullfighters from different disciplines to share the bill, enriching the spectacle and creating a more varied experience in the bullring.
