On Monday, March 24, the Feria de la Magdalena in Castellón will present a highly anticipated spectacle with an exceptional corrida de rejones (bullfight on horseback). This is a top-tier lineup featuring bulls from Fermín Bohórquez, one of the most prestigious breeders in the world of rejoneo, and three elite rejoneadores who guarantee excitement, skill, and elegance: Andy Cartagena, Diego Ventura, and Duarte Fernandes.

Andy Cartagena, one of the great icons of rejoneo, combines spectacular moves with expert command of the different phases of the fight, supported by an outstanding stable of horses. Diego Ventura, widely regarded as the number one rejoneador today, is known for his bravery, precision, and unique connection with the bull, performing breathtaking moves such as daring quiebros (sudden changes of direction) and banderillas al violín (placing banderillas with violin-like grace) that electrify the crowd. Completing the lineup is young Portuguese talent Duarte Fernandes, who arrives with the ambition to showcase his growing reputation, as well as his elegance in horsemanship and bullfighting technique.

What happens in a bullfight of Rejones?

The rejoneador employs a sequence of weapons on horseback, starting with the rejón de castigo (to test the bull’s bravery), followed by the banderillas, and finishing with the rejón de muerte.
The spectacle: While traditional bullfighting is known for its solemnity and artistic flourishes, rejoneo is more fast-paced, featuring spins, turns, and horses that appear to "dance" around the bull.. Become with us a first amateur in 15 minutes!
