Bullring La Malagueta. Málaga

It was built in 1874 by Joaquín Rucoba, being inaugurated on June 11, 1876 with bulls of the livestock of Murube for Rafael Molina "lagartijo", Antonio Carmona, "El Gordito" Luque and Manuel Rodríguez "desperdicio". Square is style neo-Mudejar style, form of hexadecagono. Antonio Ordonez bullfighting Museum is located at their premises. The Malaga bullring is located in the city quarter that gives it its popular name, “La Malagueta.” The bullfighting program features two main events: the Picassiana Bullfight (La Corrida Picassiana) and the August Festival (Feria de Agosto).

The Piccasiana Bullfight is an initiative to publicize the city of Malaga and to blend the national festival with the personage of the brilliant and congenial painter, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, who worked there for three years and is an indispensable city tourist attraction.

The Malaga Festival is said to be the most important summer festival in all of Spain and is an event that has elevated the city to being the capital of the Costa del Sol. It is celebrated during the day in the historic center of the city, and at night, in the precinct of the Cortijo de Torres.

It may be stated that a tour of the festival includes going to the festivities in the city’s historical center in the morning; the streets are decorated with little transparent illuminated boxes and adorned with flowers, and mounted with booths and stalls. There are shows for children and seniors, dancing, rhythmic marching with bands and an unending series of other activities. In the afternoon, there are the bullfights in the Malaga bullring with single billings.
At night you may spend time at the more than two hundred booths and stalls, with costumed partiers and at the midway. Any of these three environments is great for a good time.
