History of Ciudad Real Bullring

The Ciudad Real Bullring in Spain is a second-category bullring with a capacity to accommodate 7,740 spectators. Its rich history and tradition date back to its construction in 1843, and it was officially inaugurated on August 17 of the same year. Over time, it has weathered numerous challenges due to meteorological conditions, leading to several renovations, with the most significant one occurring in 1873.

After the Spanish Civil War, the bullring temporarily served as part of a concentration camp for Republican prisoners in the city, maintaining this function at least during the month of April 1939.

The bullfighting fair takes place during the festivities honoring the Virgen del Prado. From August 14 to 22, numerous concerts, contests, and a plethora of activities are held. On August 15, the “grand day,” the procession of the Virgen del Prado sees thousands of faithful walking through the city streets for hours. The festivities culminate on August 22 (the “eighth day”) with a fireworks display following the procession of the Virgen del Prado.
