Corpus Christi Fair:

  • The Corpus Christi  Fair is the most important festival of the city. It begins each year on Monday at midnight with the lighting of thousands of residential doorways and ends the following Sunday with a fireworks show.
  • At this time, the city prepares to enjoy and experience its major festivals that were ordered by royal command five hundred years ago. The Feast of Corpus Christi is one of the most joyous city traditions that its citizens have used throughout the city’s history as a digression in their daily life, resulting in healthy living and entertainment.
  • The Fair’s environment can be enjoyed both day and night at the fairgrounds. During the day elegant carriages filled with people dressed in traditional flamenco costumes parade in the streets, and during the night, when the passion for flamenco doesn’t let up, it can be enjoyed in any number of huts and stalls and in the careful detail of decorations.
  • At the Granada Fair, unlike at others, the public huts and stalls are interspersed with private ones so that the visitor is freely able to experience the lively atmosphere prevailing during these dates and at this event.
  • September also marks another bullfighting festivity coinciding with the celebration of the city’s patron saint, Our Lady of Sorrows.
