Bulls Ronda

Ronda, the town of Málaga is itself one of the standards of bullfighting in Spain. With one of the oldest and most important bullring and being the cradle of two of the great Spanish bullfighter dynasties, Ronda becomes a must visit every year for bullfighting lovers.

Why is the Fair of Pedro Romero celebrated?

Pedro Romero (1754-1839) was the most important bullfighter in a family of bullfighters from Ronda and considered a forerunner of current bullfighting. He inaugurated the Bullring of the ‘Real Maestranza’ of Ronda in 1785. Two centuries later another great saga comes up in Ronda, the Ordóñez ones, headed by Cayetano Ordóñez ‘El Niño de la Palma’. In 1954 and on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Pedro Romero, they created the ‘Corrida Goyesca’.

This is how the most important fair in Ronda adopts the name of its illustrious neighbor.

When is the Goyesca of Ronda celebrated?

The Traditional ‘Corrida Goyesca’ of Ronda is celebrated at the beginning of September, at the Pedro Romero Fair. With the aesthetics of the time of the Spanish artists Francisco de Goya, a bullfight is organized that has become a great event of the Spanish season, as well as a social event that Rivera Ordóñez family continues to organize.
