Hogueras Fair 2017

The 2017 Feria de Hogueras will be held from June 19 to 25 and has been presented at the Alicante City Hall this Wednesday at noon.

The cycle will be made up of five bullfights with the main figures of the career, one of bullfighting, a bullfighting bullfight in August and two practical classes. The posters have been unanimously approved this morning by the Bullfighting Commission of the city. This commission is formed by the municipal political groups, except Guanyar, and the bullfighting clubs of Alicante.

Nacho Lloret, manager of the company, has stressed that in the programming of the fair has sought to "maintain a line of very high quality so that the approximately 10,000 subscribers who attended in 2016 find attractive reasons to attend every day. I would like to highlight the commitment and generosity of Manuel Escribano, who returns to fight the same livestock after the serious mishap of 2016; the presence of figures such as Manzanares, Ponce, Juli, Roca Rey, Cayetano, Fandi and the Murcian Paco Ureña who is foreseen as a possible winner of San Isidro due to the moment he is in".

The councilor responsible for the square, Gloria Vara Giner, wanted to "thank the sensitivity of the organizing company in the decision of the motif announcing the fair, a tribute to Miguel Hernandez on the 75th anniversary of his death to be "one of the most important references of bullfighting and who has best expressed in his poetry the metaphor of the tragedy and glory that represents the world of bullfighting". He has also highlighted the quality of the program, both in figures and first level cattle ranches, and expects a high attendance and success of the fair.

The combinations are as follows:

• Wednesday, June 21: bulls of Adolfo Martín for Rafaelillo, Juan Bautista and Manuel Escribano.
• Thursday, June 22: Núñez del Cuvillo bulls for El Fandi, Alejandro Talavante and Cayetano.
• Friday, June 23: Bulls of El Freixo for El Juli, Paco Ureña and Roca Rey.
• Saturday, June 24: Bulls of Juan Pedro Domecq for Enrique Ponce, José María Manzanares and López Simón.
• Sunday, June 25: Fermín Bohórquez bulls for Andy Cartagena, Manuel Manzanares and Ginés Cartagena.
• Sunday, August 6: Young bulls from Los Galos for Jorge Rico, Ángel Sánchez and Carlos Ochoa.

All bullfights will start at 19h.
