José Antonio Morante de la Puebla has retired from bullfighting without a return date, as he announced yesterday after his last bullfight in El Puerto de Santa María.
The news has caused a great commotion and has been a real surprise since the bullfighter had signed a number of commitments until the end of the season. But he has declared that he does not feel comfortable with the current system where he says he cannot express his art.
It is not the first time that he retires indefinitely, so it is expected to be a "see you later". Confirmations of the first replacements are expected in the next few days.
