Los Barrios is writing a new chapter in its rich bullfighting history with the revival of La Montera, now rebranded as Montera Forum—a renovated space set to host top-tier cultural, musical, and bullfighting events. The standout occasion marking this revival will be the commemorative 25th anniversary corrida, scheduled for 17th May, featuring a stellar lineup yet to be announced.

Local bullfighting empresario Juan Antonio Medina, leading the company Bullstars Espectáculos, has taken on the mission of bringing bullfighting back to Los Barrios after years of absence. "Managing my hometown's bullring is a dream come true. We are set to present a lineup of top matadors to celebrate this anniversary in the way it deserves," said Medina.

A long-term commitment to restoring Los Barrios' prestige

Medina emphasised that this corrida is just the beginning of an ambitious project. "Our goal is to establish Los Barrios as a key venue in the national bullfighting calendar. We are already working towards securing a fixed spring date for 2026, attracting fans from across Andalusia and Spain," he explained.

The reopening of La Montera is part of the transformation of the bullring into Montera Forum, a versatile venue that will not only host bullfights but also large-scale musical and cultural events. The mayor of Los Barrios, Miguel Alconchel, has expressed his strong support for this initiative, highlighting its significance for the town’s economic and social development.

Advance reservations for the grand corrida on 17th May are now available at www.servitoro.com. Expectations are high, and all signs point to a historic day for bullfighting in Los Barrios.
