Borja Jiménez Shines at the "Las Meninas de España" Awards for His Success at Sa

For the second consecutive year, the “Las Meninas de España” Peña has paid tribute to the Seville-born bullfighter Borja Jiménez, who was named the triumphing matador of the 2024 San Isidro Fair. Jiménez received this accolade after his celebrated performance in the Victoriano del Río bullfight, where he showcased his skill with the bull “Dulce”, which led him to claim his second ‘Puerta Grande’ at the iconic Las Ventas bullring.

The event, held at the Hotel Wellington in Madrid, also recognised other prominent figures from the world of bullfighting. Among the awardees was the legendary Vicente Ruiz “El Soro”, who was honoured for his long career and his defence of bullfighting, as well as Emilio de Justo, awarded for the best faena of the Autumn Fair. Other notable awardees included Fernando Adrián, triumphing in the Beneficencia bullfight; Uceda Leal, for his outstanding kill at San Isidro; and Roberto Martín “Jarocho”, named the best novillero.

In addition, awards were presented to the Fuente Ymbro cattle ranch, named the best at San Isidro, and the bull “Dulce” from Victoriano del Río, which was selected as the best of the fair. The banderillero Fernando Sánchez was recognised for his superb pair of banderillas, while Tito Sandoval was awarded for the best ‘puya’ of San Isidro.

With this ceremony, the Peña “Las Meninas de España” not only acknowledges the individual achievements of bullfighters and breeders but also reaffirms its commitment to the preservation and promotion of Spanish bullfighting.
